Kate @ Eight

Kate turned 8 months on February 24th. She's perfected the art of sitting up, but isn't crawling yet. She can usually get where she wants to go by way of rolling, however. She's a great eater - by that I mean she isn't very picky (much unlike her brother at this age). I am stunned that I have a child who will willingly put broccoli and other vegetables in her mouth without gagging. We'll see how long this continues!

Lately she has discovered the fun of cardboard boxes. Here are some pics of Miss Peanut/Miss Silliness/Baby Kate on her 8-month birthday.

Disney World

Ben spent his 3rd birthday in Disney World and had a wonderful time. It was fun to watch him experience everything. I think it was a bit overwhelming at times, but he handled everything really well. The highlights of the trip seemed to be 1) the gorillas in the Animal Kingdom, 2) Goofy's roller coaster and 3) the carousel in the Magic Kingdom. He was not a fan of the shows like the Lion King & A Bug's Life and we had to make early exits from those. Kate was terrific as well and made life easy on us during those long days at the park. She even got to ride some rides. Even though I was fairly exhausted, I was sad to leave and can't wait to go back.

Safari ride in the Animal Kingdom. Ben thought it was funny when a rhino crossed the path next to our bus and when a silly ostrich held up traffic for about 15 minutes because he wouldn't get out of the road.

Checking out the gorillas. Ben was very concerned about a baby gorilla and kept telling the mommy and daddy gorilla to go pick it up. In reality the baby gorilla was a full-grown female and the mommy and daddy were silverback males.

We had a little bit of rain while we were there. At first it was annoying, but as soon as we realized it cut the crowds in half and made the lines disappear we were o.k. with it!

Playhouse Disney show

Playhouse Disney was one of the only shows Ben would tolerate. He also sat through the Finding Nemo show, but slept through half of it.

7 Months

Kate's First Tooth

Kate's first tooth came through just after she turned 6 months old. It's difficult to capture a picture of it, but here are my attempts.

Table for Two

Lately Ben has been insisting that his toy turtle, Frank, join him at the dinner table. Usually Frank just watches Ben eat, but last night Ben decided Frank needed some green beans. The last thing I need is one more mouth to feed, but thankfully Frank doesn't make a mess and doesn't complain.

Christmas 2009

Christmas was a busy time for Ben & Kate. We went to Ft. Thomas for several days and visited lots of friends and family and made a trip to the zoo. While we were away Kate turned 6 months old and in honor of that big milestone she started sitting up and got her first tooth. Here's what they were up to over Christmas.
